Choosing a blender for everyday healthy eating
Personal blender or jug blender? Start with what you make, how much you make and how easy it is to clean.

1. Start with your routine
One smoothie to take with you and larger batches for a household need different capacities. Check the usable capacity, rather than just the size printed on the box.
2. Look beyond the wattage
Check the manufacturer’s stated uses, controls and instructions. A bigger wattage number alone doesn’t tell you how well a blender handles your recipes.
3. Check the ingredients it can handle
Frozen fruit, ice, nuts and hot liquids can require different designs. Only use a blender for the tasks its manufacturer permits.
4. Make cleaning part of the decision
Look for clear cleaning instructions, accessible parts and a routine you’ll actually follow. Check whether individual parts are dishwasher safe.
5. Compare the whole cost
Include delivery, replacement cups or jugs, warranty terms and available spare parts. Check the current retailer listing before buying.
Buy for the way you’ll use it.
