Supplements

Start with the label.
Skip the hype.

A clear comparison starts with knowing what a product contains and what its claims are based on.

Before comparing products

  • Read the full ingredients: check amounts per serving, serving size and any allergens.
  • Check the claim: separate a manufacturer’s claim from independent evidence.
  • Check the testing: look for a named, relevant test or certification and verify what it covers.
  • Compare the actual cost: calculate the price per stated serving and include delivery.
  • Read the instructions: check warnings and the manufacturer’s guidance.

What our guides will make clear

Whether a product was tested in person, researched from published information, supplied by a brand or linked through an affiliate programme. We won’t describe research as hands-on testing.

Whether you need a supplement is a separate question from which product to buy. For general information, start with the NHS guide to vitamins and minerals; a pharmacist or qualified clinician can help with personal questions.
